Cindy F. Lyons is a certified public accountant and a tax partner with Lauterbach, Borschow & Company, PC, El Paso’s largest local public accounting firm. She spent a number of years working for Coopers & Lybrand as a tax manager and owned her own firm prior to joining Lauterbach, Borschow & Company as a shareholder in 1997. She received a BBA from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1980.
Her areas of practice include business planning and consulting, tax compliance, tax and estate planning, family businesses, financial institutions, business acquisitions and sales, estate and trust taxation, representation of taxpayers before taxing authorities. She serves clients ranging from individuals to large corporations in various industries.
Cindy’s professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the El Paso Chapter of the TSCPA.
Cindy has been active in many civic and charitable organizations throughout her career. She is currently serving as a member of the investment committee of the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, where she previously served as investment committee chair and board chair; and a member of the UTEP Centennial Commission. In May, 2005, she was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to serve on the Finance Commission of Texas, which is the state entity that oversees banks, savings institutions, consumer credit grantors, and other regulated entities chartered or licensed under Texas law. Governor Perry reappointed Cindy to the Finance Commission, in April, 2010, for a six year term. She currently serves as audit committee chair for the Commission. She is a member of the Paso del Norte Group, and is a graduate of the 25th class of Leadership El Paso.
