Carlos started his career in the military as an enlisted soldier and performed his duties as a paramedic and an operating room technician achieving the rank of Sergeant. He later returned to finish a BS in both Chemistry and Biology and received a commission as an officer in the Signal Corps.

While serving as a Signal Corps officer, Carlos spent three years in Korea of which most was spent at the forefront of current operations for the entire peninsula. He also served in Iraq where he volunteered to lead over 50 convoys.  After returning from Iraq Carlos returned to school and obtained an MA in Computer Resource and Information Systems Management as well as an MBA.

During this time, Carlos and his business partner Larry Walter founded Global Alternative Fuels, a Biodiesel Production Facility, and has strived to grow it into one of the largest such facilities in the southwest.

In 2014 Carlos and his uncle founded El Paso Brewing Company where he is Chief Brewer.

Carlos is currently a member of the board of directors for the First Light Federal Credit Union
